We are pleased to announce the launch of Datavysts, the community name for the doctoral network Data2Action: Learning Network for AI and Data powered Social Innovation and Co-creation of Transformative Change. This evolution marks an exciting step in strengthening our shared identity, expanding our reach, and maximising the impact of our work.
Data2Action is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe (grant number 101169037) and UKRI (EP/Z536581/1], supporting a new generation of researchers exploring how data and AI can catalyse social innovation and drive real-world change.
Why a community name?
When recruitment for our doctoral candidates opened, via the original landing page, we were at the beginning of building not only a research network, but a community. With 15 doctoral candidates distributed across partner organisations and disciplines, we recognised the importance of creating:
- A shared identity that brings coherence across diverse research strands
- A recognisable name that travels well beyond academic environments
- A cohesive narrative that reflects the purpose and ambition of the programme
- A community brand that can grow sustainably over the lifetime of the project and beyond it
To achieve this, we partnered with the communications agency NEO, who worked closely with our consortium during the early recruitment and onboarding phase.
Working with NEO
Through workshops and interviews, NEO helped us articulate the core narrative of Data2Action: the idea that data, when explored with curiosity and purpose, becomes a catalyst for new understanding and societal transformation. This narrative exploration guided the search for a community name capable of capturing the inquisitive, analytical and exploratory spirit of the network.
The result: Datavysts.
Why “Datavysts”?
The name draws inspiration from the word “activist” and “catalyst”, combined with the power of data. At its heart, the name reflects our collective identity. Datavysts expresses who we are as a community of emerging researchers, innovators, and critical thinkers working at the intersection of AI, data, and social impact.
A cohesive identity for a transformative mission
This community identity will be used across our communications, events, and collaborations, helping us establish a strong and recognisable presence as the network advances. As our doctoral candidates begin their research journeys, Datavysts offers a unifying banner under which we can share insights, grow connections, and amplify our collective contributions to socially driven, data-powered innovation.
