Developing data for social economy investment model and practice

Andrés, originally from Mexico, has worked across multiple countries as a consultant, researcher, and advisor in international development. He holds an academic background in economics, including a Master’s degree focused on data valuation and behavioural economics. Professionally, he has gained experience in private equity, management consulting, and in designing and evaluating social innovation and financial sector programmes for development finance institutions and governments.

Through his PhD at Politecnico di Milano, Andrés aims to co‑develop a practical, EU‑aligned model for data valuation and data sharing in the social economy, supporting social enterprises in unlocking new forms of value and impact.

Achievements

  • Won first place in the international AI & Data Science Innovation Challenge, developing a predictive fleet optimisation model combining statistical learning and financial analysis
  • Delivered research, evaluations, and advisory projects across 30+ countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Europe, supporting clients in multiple industries and sectors.
  • Placed 3rd in his first-ever trail running competition — and now hooked on outdoor sports and endurance challenges.
  • Learning German in the past years, and now looking forward to starting Italian as part of his next chapter in Milan.

In my own words…

I’m passionate about making data work for social good by bridging finance, policy, and social innovation — catalysing real-world tools from abstract metrics.
