In my own words…
We must put people first and give communities a say in how data and technology are used, ensuring that AI is used to solve real social problems. In other words, it’s about shifting the focus from technology-for-profit to technology-for-social-good.
By bringing together data science and social innovation knowledge, we could develop a new 'Data Social Innovations Paradigm', implementing new solutions – services, models, or partnerships – that address the unmet needs of disadvantaged communities, enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of public or social services, and generate more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable social outcomes.
The Datavysts network will connect specialist researchers, practitioners and policymakers to create impactful new knowledge about AI and how to use it for social good.
