In my own words…

Data science and AI discussions so far have largely focused on technological progress — algorithms and increasing computing power. We have to reboot this debate and instead ask: What can data science and AI contribute to solving society's pressing and complex challenges?

You could say social innovation is the intentional change of social practices. We need comprehensive discourse on practice change through technology, which crosses and transcends individual disciplines. We must examine innovation's transformative capacity, its impact dimensions and undesired side effects.

The Datavysts network should contribute to a future where the academic as well as the practical social innovation discourse naturally includes data science and AI, and vice versa.
