Enrico's research focuses on how purpose-driven innovation emerges through collaboration between public, private, and third-sector actors. He studies how hybrid governance models, open social innovation, and public-private partnerships can foster institutional and technological change to address complex sustainability challenges. By examining how institutional forces and organisational practices interact, Enrico explores the conditions that make innovation inclusive, adaptive, and impactful, with particular attention to the role of governance, data, and evidence-based policy in driving societal transformation.

In my own words…

In real world terms rebooting data science and AI means redesigning how these technologies are governed, embedded, and used so that they are clearly oriented toward shared societal purposes rather than narrow efficiency or profit goals. It involves building institutional arrangements that balance technological potential with responsibility, accountability, and public value, and that enable cross sector collaboration among policymakers, organisations, and communities. In this sense rebooting is less about new algorithms and more about aligning data science and AI with inclusive, long term development through better governance and collective action.

I would like the Datavysts network to leave a legacy of showing that data science and AI can be powerful tools for public value when they are guided by shared purpose, strong institutions, and collective responsibility.
